Wife of man who died in Lee Co. Jail made several calls

FORT MYERS, FLA--Phone calls released to WINK NEWS CALL FOR ACTION show just how many times Joyce Christie tried to warn Lee County of her husband Nicholas Christie's health concerns.
They also show the challenge to Lee County deputies to have him baker acted.
The calls to Lee County started on March 24th from police in Ohio
Girard, OH police: It's only from my knowledge of of of his situation that he needs to be pink-slipped
Lee co. dispatcher: Oh, he needs to be baker acted?
Girard, OH police: Yeah he he's manic. He's suicidal. He's taken all the money out of his his and his wife's bank account.
Lee County also received multiple calls from Joyce Christie including one where she said, "He's off his medicine. He's manic. He's a little far gone more than manic. He has a heart problem. He has a lung problem. He's paranoid."
Lee County also received a call from the clerk at the hotel where Nicholas Christie was staying. She said, "I just talked to his wife. His wife...he's highly intoxicated. I just talked to his wife and his wife said that he does not have is heart medication. Now she says that an ambulance needs to come out and pick him up."
Lee county sent a deputy and EMS to the hotel. EMS found Christie in good health with no indication of mental health problems.
Dispatch: I have a question for you...did we make contact with him?"
Deputy: I've been talking to him for 10 minutes. He's driving me nuts.
Dispatch: OK, is he...?
Deputy: He's fine. The ambulance came. They checked him out. He's got his medication and he's just havin' some beer sittin' by the pool.
Dispatch:Uh huh..
Deputy: He did have a complaint about his knee but the ambulance said he was fine. He did a refusal.
Dispatch: Okay so he didn't make any 49 threats or anything like that?
Deputy: Oh no. Not at all.
The Christie family is planning on filing a civil lawsuit. Federal investigators are still looking into the case. The State Attorney's office did not find any criminal charges in the case.
