Paying in advance for gas could have you losing a whole lot more

By WINK News

The website mygallons.com promises to help customers beat rising gas prices. Customers buy in at the current rate of gas and get a gas card where they can redeem their gas credit over the coming months.

The Better Business Bureau warns customers to take a close look at the terms and conditions of that agreement. That’s because the company’s founder says the negotiations with U.S. Bank broke off. Meaning the company doesn't have anyone to process orders between the customer and gas stations.

Customers have also complained to the BBB that they bought into a similar program instituted in the northeast last year for pre-paid natural gas and many customers wound up with a worthless piece of paper.

The BBB gave My Gallons LLC a failing grade.

That is a service the rental cars offer. If you prepay, you are to bring the car back as close to empty as possible so you need not fill up. I use it all the time. Great time saver.

People should be award of what Hertz Car Rental is doing. They offer pre-paid gas for your rental car, however, if you bring the car back with the same amount of gas as when you picked it up, they will still charge you. We had half a tank when we picked up the car, we took it back with half a tank. They charged $33.67 on our credit card for half a tank, it didn't matter that we were running out of gas and couldn't get back to them without gas in the tank.
