FORT MYERS, Fla. - Norman Love calls his store just a small chocolatier in a small town. That might be true, but now he's getting some national and international exposure.
Behind the counter at Norman Love's Chocolate Factory is proof of how good the product is. Consumer Reports rates the chocolate as the number one best gift to buy for Christmas and number one among all gifts between $50.00 and $99.00.
The publicity means even more business.
Love says internet sales have skyrocketed since Consumer Reports rated his gifts among the best. But even so, he wants it all to be better. He says, "My whole life, I always strive to be better than i was yesterday. "I want to be number one. I want to be the best. I come to work everyday to be the best. I try to instill that in my staff to be the best."
The staff makes his secret recipe by hand every day and the chocolate is never refrigerated. This affordable luxury gets sent all over country and that exposure is starting to make Norman Love a household name. "It's kind of a snowball effect", he says. "We touch so many people from other customers sending gifts that it really enhances and gives us an opportunity to expand our business."
Love wants to remain in Southwest Florida, but says he wouldn't mind opening a few more stores. To get some of those famous chocolates by Christmas, you have to order by December 20.
