Planes, Trains, & Automobiles: Holiday travel season kicks off

By WINK News

According to the Air Transport Association, today is one of the busiest days of the year for the airline industry.

The number of passengers is expected to be down nearly 7%, so some airlines are cutting the number of flights they are offering to save money.

Experts recommend packing light and getting to the airport early if you are flying today.

Amtrak is also gearing up for the 125,000 passengers expected to board trains today. A normal Wednesday brings around 74,000 travelers. They say they are ready, and have scheduled extra trains to accommodate the increase.

33 million people are expected to hit the roads this Thanksgiving Holiday. That number is just over 2 percent more than last year.
