By WINK News
By Associated Press

SARASOTA, Fla. - The President arrived in Sarasota a few moments ago. He's now on his way to Arcadia to tour the DeSoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center. After the tour he will announce the Recovery Act funding for a variety of "smart grid" technologies.

The technologies are designed to make the nation's electricity grid more reliable and efficient and allow for the integration of clean, renewable energy. They also can help consumers save money.

Later, Obama travels to Norfolk, Va., where he'll speak at a rally for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds at Old Dominion University.

The president returns to the White House in the evening.
