The Planned Giving Council of Lee County, Inc. will present “How To Recruit & Retain High Quality Staff” at the Thursday, February 22 meeting.
As we all struggle with employee turnover in the highly competitive world of development and fundraising, how can we recruit and retain the highest quality staff? Speaker Christopher Simoneau will discuss and explore ways of motivating and engaging staff members, dealing with staff transitions, and maintaining donor relationships in periods of transition. Best practices and ideas for recruiting, retaining, motivating, and rewarding exceptional team members will be discussed.
Simoneau is Vice President for University Advancement at Florida Gulf Coast University, and Executive Director of the FGCU Foundation. In this role he oversees all aspects of advancement, including fundraising, community relations, alumni relations, special events, donor relations and stewardship, as well as university marketing and communications. The Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation recently completed its 20th anniversary campaign with a total of $128 million raised against a campaign goal of $100 million.
Simoneau was previously with Tufts University, where he served as Senior Director of University Advancement, and earlier as Director of Central Development Programs for Tufts’ highly successful $1.2 billion fundraising campaign that concluded in June 2011. His previous higher education experience include Associate Vice President for Strategic Planning and University Relations at Case Western Reserve University; at Columbia University as Director of Contract Services in Student Services, and Associate Director for Administration for the Earth Institute; and Business Manager for the Princeton University Materials Institute. Simoneau has additional experience in the private sector, including in the areas of strategic management, finance and administration.

The meeting will be held at Blue Coyote Business & Social Club, 9854 Caloosa Yacht and Racquet Club Drive, Fort Myers from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch and program begin at noon.
