Published: Apr 10, 2013 3:42 AM EDT

On Wednesday, April 10, 2013, Mayor Randall Henderson boarded the Big Rig and went to Colonial Elementary School in Ft. Myers to read to the students. Big Rig Books is a non profit organization that works to promote literacy among the underserved children of Lee County. The Big Rig delivers free books to area schools, daycares, community centers, and other locations, eliminating obstacles to literacy such as poverty, lack or transportation, or time constraints for working parents. We all realize that Lee County can stand improvement as far as crime and poverty- well let's do our part to turn it around, by helping the future generation. Please visit www.bigrigbooks.org, to see how you can help the Big Rig Books initiative.
