Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, the real life heroes of the  Oscar winning film, “The Blind Side” will speak at the Youth Haven  Home~Hope~Healing benefit luncheon on Thursday, March 10th, 2011 at Naples Grande Beach Resort.

The Tuohy’s adopted Michael Oher, a troubled homeless teen who went on to become a star NFL tackle with the Baltimore Ravens.  Since that time, Sean and Leigh Anne have gone on to embrace projects that are grounded in their belief in the power of the human spirit to transform lives through simple acts of kindness.

“Sean and Leigh Anne are an ordinary couple who did an extraordinary thing,” said Brad Marshall, President of the Youth Haven Board of Trustees.  “We chose them to speak at our  inaugural luncheon as they exemplify the very philosophy of Youth Haven, and our unwavering commitment to provide a lifeline of  safety, love and compassion for innocent children, and to assure that they have a chance to realize happy and productive lives”, added Mr. Marshall.

Youth Haven is Collier County’s only emergency safe home exclusively for children who must be removed from their homes by the authorities due to abuse, abandonment, or neglect.  But providing a safe place for children is only the beginning of Youth Haven’s commitment. Youth Haven’s counseling programs provide effective education, and psychological and emotional guidance that transforms families, keeps them together, and avoids placing children in the foster care system.

Youth Haven provides services to more than 1,600 children and family members annually, is a COA nationally accredited organization, a member agency of the United Way of Collier County, and has been in continuous operation since 1972.  For more information, visit
