Laura Kadechka

Reporter

Laura Kadechka joined WINK in February of 2007 after 4 and a half years with WCTV in Tallahassee. During her time with WCTV, Laura covered hundreds of stories, but the one she says she’ll remember the most was right here in Southwest Florida. With only a camera, tripod and lap top editor in hand, Laura headed to Punta Gorda and Kissimmee to cover the recovery efforts days after Hurricane Charley made landfall.

While her focus was local politics, she also turned her attention to crime in the Capital area. She teamed up with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to create the Most Wanted File, which has successfully led to the arrests of dozens of the area’s most violent criminals.

This is not Laura’s first stop in Southwest Florida, she got her start as a reporter with SNN-6 in Sarasota. Before that, she briefly worked behind the scenes with WFTS in Tampa. However, the third generation FSU grad got a first taste of the news business in college as an anchor and reporter for FSU Live! where she was honored with the Best Anchor Award. Laura has also been recognized by the Florida Associated Press for her reporting, including Individual Achievement.
