WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Palm Beach County judge has ruled that a woman accused of cutting her mother's eyes out is not mentally competent to stand trial.
Judge James Martz ruled last Friday that 34-year-old Ferna Quesner was incompetent and ordered her to a mental health treatment facility.
The Palm Beach Post reported Thursday (http://bit.ly/13Uc59J ) that the state department will provide the court with a release plan within a few weeks. The next court hearing is scheduled for Jan.
Quesner was arrested in July on a charge of attempted murder after the attack on the Fourth of July. Her mother, 59-year-old Blonia Quesner, was found in critical condition with her eyes removed. Ferna Quesner told deputies she was trying to kill the cat and that her mother "is the cat."
