LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Red Sox fans in Southwest Florida were literally gearing up at the team's merchandise store today at JetBlue Park.
Red Sox World Series gear went flying out the door this morning as the teams' store opened up a few minutes early as the die-hard Boston fans couldn't wait to get their hands on the teams' World Series gear.
Bonnie Baker, a cashier at the store, said it was "chaos, but a fun chaos. It was raining outside. We let them in early. The truck had just arrived. We were still unpacking it and the people were like, 'give me whatever you got!' So, it was awesome...a lot of fun."
Maureen and Michael Humin, a couple of Red Sox fans who live in Estero, hope that buying team gear will bring the Red Sox luck. And if the Red Sox win the World Series again, not only will the merchandise store be jammed with die-hard's buying championship gear, but spring training at Jetblue Park will also buzz with excitement.
"We'll definitely see an impact. We've got some wonderful fans who like to camp out a week ahead of time for spring training tickets, so who knows. We'll definitely see an uptick in interest this spring," said Katie Haas, the team's Director Of Business Operations.
The Red Sox Merchandise shop at JetBlue Park will be open 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. through Saturday, and then again next week, as long as the World Series is still going on.
