FORT MYERS, Fla. - A group of students are leading the push for an FGCU football program after publishing team concept portraits.

Justin Unger, 22, created the pictures on his iMac in February using the Nike Elite template.

A student-created twitter handle, @FGCUfootball, posted the renditions online - and have gained popularity in recent weeks reaching nearly 500 followers.

The group hopes the recent basketball success following a Sweet 16 run, can boost interest in fielding a team on the gridiron.

FGCU President Dr. Wilson Bradshaw said he though the renditions were "cool" and that a team is in the university's plans.

"It's not a matter of if, but when," said Bradshaw.

A 2010 feasability study posted it would cost FGCU nearly $100M to establish a program, and about $10M per year to maintain it.

No timetable is set for serious talks to heat up again among campus brass.
