ESTERO, Fla.- Soaring on to the Sweet 16, the FGCU men's basketball team is the Cinderella story of the NCAA. And as the team's success on the basketball court floods the country, the university hopes the hype will spark interest in prospective students. The admissions' office is already flooded with recruits, but it could be another year before the university sees the biggest rebound.
Southwest Florida will cheer the team on that's captured hearts throughout the country. Thousands of people are packing Alico arena on FGCU's campus for a pep rally tonight, and throughout the day, people packed the campus bookstore to buy hats and t-shirts. FGCU was also busy with students filming a new version of a viral video that played off Fort Myers' new nickname Dunk City.
