TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State linebacker Nigel Carr, who was arrested in July on auto burglary and credit card theft charges, has been released from his scholarship.

Florida State officials said in a statement Wednesday that first-year coach Jimbo Fisher met with Carr and his family, and the junior can now transfer to another school.

Carr had 26 tackles in 13 games last season.

This is the latest in a string of departures for the team.

Wide receiver Jarmon Fortson was dismissed from the team Aug. 8 and has enrolled at the University of North Alabama.

On Monday, cornerback Dionte Allen was granted his release to transfer.

The team also learned last week that defensive tackle Moses McCray and running back Tavares Pressley suffered season-ending knee injuries.
