TORONTO (AP) — Lyle Overbay hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the seventh inning, helping Brett Cecil and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the slumping Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 on Friday night.

Cecil (9-5) struck out nine in seven innings to earn his first win since July 8 against Minnesota. The left-hander gave up one run and four hits, improving to 2-3 with a 4.09 ERA in his last nine starts.

Matt Garza (11-6) allowed four hits in eight innings for the Rays, who have lost three straight for the first time since June 20-23.
