CAPE CORAL, Fla-  The offer is on the table, now all Gary King has to do is accept it and start negotiating with the City of Cape Coral to become the next City manager.  After a nine hour interview process the city council picked King from field of five finalists.

King is a well known fixture at city council meetings and lives in Cape Coral.  He is the founder of Innovative Business Mortgages and former Senior Vice President of State Street Trust in Boston.  He will have to pass a background check before taking the job.  It comes with a number of first year challenges, like balancing the budget, hiring a police chief and lowering utility rates.

Interim City Manager Carl Scwhing is the council's second choice should negotiations with King fall apart.
