Happening in SWFL this weekend

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Captiva Holiday Village jumps into full gear this weekend with all kinds of activities. All weekend long you can participate in the South Seas Holiday Stroll; they’ve decorated the marina with all kinds of lights, Santa is there and there are lots of  family activities, costs $10 and they’re taking donations of food for CCMI.

Also tonight the Marching Mullet Band is leaving Jensen’s Marina at 5:15 p.m. marching down Andy Rosse Lane to the beach for sunset. In addition, Jensen’s is hosting an outdoor film festival tonight. Tomorrow the resort and marina hosts a fishing tournament, a Junkanoo parade and the famous boat parade. Sunday you can enjoy caroling at Chapel by the Sea.

There are two additional boat parades to let you know about besides the one on Captiva. Naples Bay is hosting a parade Saturday from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., this one is down around Tin City. Bonita Springs has a really big Boat Parade, starting at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Big Hickory Fish Nook, up the Imperial River to The Fish House on Bonita Beach Road.

Saturday is the annual Heart Walk at Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers to benefit the American Heart Association. Thousands of people turn out of this 5K walk over the bridge, there is a also a shorter one-mile course, a kids zone and snacks.

Saturday is Movies in the Park in Bonita Springs will be showing the smash “Frozen”. Characters Elsa and Olaf and more will be there to greet the kids. The movie is at 5 p.m., at Riverside Park.

There are also two concerts Saturday. The Rockin’ Christmas concert at Big Arts on Sanibel Island featuring a famous hometown girl, Whitney Wolanin, and the Lakeside Country Bash at Lakes Park in Fort Myers featuring headline Brantley Gilbert and lots of fun county acts from noon-10 p.m.
