FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers Police are searching for three men accused of robbing the Circle K on Winkler and Evans Avenues at gunpoint.
It happened just after 3:00 a.m. Police say the men stormed into the store, ordered the clerk to the floor, and ran off with cash.
WINK News spoke to the clerk, she says she was not injured, just shaken up.
Police say as the suspects were leaving, a newspaper delivery driver witnessed them get into a black Nissan four-door. The delivery driver drove away on Winkler Avenue. The suspects fired at his car. Police say the driver was shot, but that he is stable.
WINK News spoke to his wife off camera. She says her husband was shot three times, once in the head, another in the arm, and a third time in the back. She says he came home and asked her to call 911.
WINK News was there as detectives gathered evidence from the van. The first window and side windows have been blown out, there are bullet holes in the side.
The suspects had their faces covered, but were last seen driving away in a black Nissan.
This is the second time someone delivering News-Press papers has been shot at in recent months.
At the end of June, a woman was driving up and down the streets of Suncoast Estates in North Fort Myers delivering papers, when someone shot at her. She had minor injuries to her leg.
