COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - When you think wolves, you often think Alaska and Minnesota. Not Southwest Florida but there's a place that's been home to 60 plus wolves and animals for more than two decades.
The Shy Wolf Sanctuary has been caring for exotic, stray and injured animals since 1993. The sanctuary, located in Naples is just under a three acre facility dedicated to the care of not just wolves, but foxes, bobcat, even a panther.
Currently the sanctuary is hoping to expand to a 10 acre plot of land in Bonita Springs. The new sanctuary will feature, a secure hurricane shelter, a walk in fridge/freezer & food preparation area and natural setting enclosures complete with waterfalls and streams.
The new location will also allow the sanctuary to build a vet clinic and surgery rehabilitation & recovery center, along with on site housing for staff, guests and interns.
