PUNTA GORDA, Fla - For the sixth year in a row pirates will be calling the shores of Punta Gorda home. Something the Mayor of Punta Gorda officially proclaims the city as, "A quaint little fishing village with a pirate problem."

Although you have nothing to worry to about, as long you don't take any of their treasure. In-fact around 15,000 visitors are expected to take part in the 3 day festival, featuring anything and everything pirates.

One of the main draws is the pirate flotilla and invasion where a smoke filled Charlotte Harbor attracts boaters from all over Southwest Florida and their decorated vessels battle against pirates already a-shore.

Festivities on day one kick off at noon followed by the annual Pirate Ball from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center, located at 75 Taylor Street in Punta Gorda.

Pirate Festival at Fisherman's Village is free, however a suggested $2 "Buck-n-Ear" donation is greatly appreciated, with proceeds benefiting the Yah Yah Girls "Back Pack Kidz" program.
