LEE COUNTY, Fla. --  According to the Fort Myers Police Department, three people are dead after a fiery crash on Bavaria Rd. and Treeline Ave. just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

The Florida Highway Patrol is also on the scene and says one southbound lanes of Treeline Ave. remains closed. FMPD says a car ran into a telephone pole, sanpping it in half, then, as witnesses describe, burst into "huge fire."

FMPD officers on the scene say the car and the bodies inside will be taken to the Medical Examiner's office together, where they will be removed from the car. FMPD says wet roads were a factor in the crash, but are unsure if anything else contributed.

This crash knocked out power to 12 homes in the area, but Florida Power and Light says it has since been restored.
