FORT MYERS, Fla. - Today is Cinco de Mayo and there are plenty of ways to celebrate here in Southwest Florida.  Gina Birch stops by the studio to fill us in on those and other events taking place throughout the week.

Cinco de Mayo celebrations:

Bell Tower Shops hosts a block party tonight from 4:00-9:00 p.m.  The family-friendly event features eating contests, a Nacho Libre look-alike contest, free sombreros and a kids corner.

The Fort Myers River District hosts a block party downtown from 4:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m. featuring live entertainment on three stages.

Other events this week:

Lakes Park hosts a Travel Rally Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in honor of National Travel and Tourism week.  The event includes food samplings, tours, kids activities, music and competitions.  Admission is free.

Crayton Cove in Naples is hosting Pallete to Palate.  The event celebrates the restaurants and galleries of the neighborhood.  The evening starts with a reception in the lobby of the Cove Inn, and each restaurant offers specials and art displays from some of the best galleries in the city.  The event runs from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Thursday.
