FORT MYERS, Fla. - In August, Michael Sasen moved to Fort Myers from Massachusetts looking for peace of mind.

"He had lost a son in March, our older son Joshua," said Christine Sasen, his ex-wife. "He loved the ocean. It was a special place for him and Josh.

Sasen, 48, had been living with his father in Southwest Florida since August.

Early Christmas morning, a driver struck and killed Sasen near McGregor Boulevard and Kasamada Drive. The driver left the scene.

"It's just completely devastating to his whole family," said Christine Sasen, adding that she and their youngest son learned the news Christmas morning as they were opening presents.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, State Attorney's Office investigator Charles Lawson drove by the scene about 30 minutes after the crash. His vehicle had damage consistent with the hit and run. Troopers arrested him for DUI, and name him as a suspect in this investigation.

Sasen's family is looking for answers and transparency in this case, but until they get justice, they remembering the loved one they lost.

"It's for Mike to be remembered as a wonderful father, a brother, son, and he always found the good in everything," said Christine Sasen.
