EAST NAPLES, Fla. - A house fire killed an elderly man this morning, on Mustang Drive and Lely Resort Boulevard.

The fire started just after 1:00 a.m. A husband and wife were inside at the time, but only one was able to get out of the home.

John Lettich, 87, did not survive the fire. His wife, Elizabeth Lettich, 87, was able to get out of the home and to a neighbor to call 911. She was transported to NCH for smoke inhalation.

The East Naples Golden Gate Fire Chief said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The home, that is part of a duplex, is a total loss. The town home next door only sustained smoke damage, but right now it is not livable. The investigation is being handled in two parts. The Collier County Sheriff's Office is handling the death investigaion, while the State Fire Marshal will determine the cause of the fire.

The Lettichs have lived in Lely Resort for the last 12 years.
