FORT MYERS, Fla. - Federal officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI met with several Fort Myers city officials this week.
The U.S. Attorney's Office is not confirming nor denying the existence of an open investigation, but says "various topics were discussed pertaining to the issues of each (city) ward."
But some city leaders involved in the federal interviews tell WINK News they were questioned regarding some city projects, including a land deal tied to the widening of State Road 82 and the downtown waterfront redevelopment.
City officials including the city manager and mayor say they are not aware of any impropriety involved in the approval of any city projects.
