IMMOKALEE, Fla.- This Mother's Day is extra special for an Immokalee mom, recognized nationally as an 'everyday hero.'
Dollar General is donating $10,000 to the Family Literacy Academy in Immokalee, in honor of Maria Segura.
Segura spoke little English when she moved from Mexico to Immokalee at age 16.
Now she works at the Academy, where parents and kids can learn English side by side. She teaches pre-school there, at the very place where she was once a student.
Segura will also be featured in People Magazine and on the Oxygen Network.
