LEE COUNTY, Fla.- After months of heated debate, accidents and complaints from residents FDOT has approved a traffic signal at Michael G. Rippe Pkwy (Metro Pkwy. Extension) and Briarcliff Ln. in Fort Myers.

The Department of Transportation will move forward with the light because most drivers at Briarcliff and the Metro extension have a 60 second or longer wait.

Lee county will install the signal and it is expected to be operational in fall 2013.

Total cost for equipment and installation will be $300,000.
