COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Two lanes of southbound I-75 have re-opened at Corkscrew Rd. in Estero after a serious crash with injuries in the area.
The driver of a tractor trailer may have been experiencing a medical issue as he swerved across lanes and side-swiped a van. The truck then over-corrected and drove into the ditch.
The driver, 46-year-old Clarence Nauer, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the van, 46-year-old Allen Kenter, did not sustain any injuries and was released at the scene. There was very minor damage to the van.
The Department of Environmental Protection will be cleaning up a diesel spill in the grass that contaminated the soil.
Charges are pending as FHP continues to collect evidence.
