FORT MYERS, Fla. - Kurokawa Martial Arts in Fort Myers has been named one of the top karate schools in the nation by the Amateur Athletic Union. We went to find out why.
The school has about 120 students, and recently brought home about three dozen medals at the Florida District Karate Championships in Fort Pierce. In just over two years actively competing in tournaments, the school has already earned close to 200 medals.
The Kurokawa school in Fort Myers was founded by Timothy Brooks, who has studied and taught the art of authentic karate for almost 50 years.
The dojo is located in the Wal-Mart neighborhood shopping center, next to Harborfreight Tools, at 9131 College Parkway. This is at the Southeast corner of McGregor Blvd. and College Ave. in Fort Myers.
