FORT MYERS, Fla.- If you have been to downtown Fort Myers in the last several days you may have noticed a large area near Harborside Event Center and the river is now fenced off. This is because the city has broken ground on what’s technically called the “water basin” project.
Planners say that this will spur commercial and economic development downtown, detractors say it will hurt the downtown businesses more than help them.
