LEE COUNTY, Fla.- On Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. teams comprised of Lee County Public Safety personnel will compete for bragging rights to the best batch of chili at the 3rd Annual Public Safety Chili Cook-Off.
The competition will take place at the Gulf Coast Town Center Market Square and the public is invited to participate in the judging.
For a $1 contribution per sample, members of the general public can taste the chili and vote for the "People's Choice" winner.
In the end, everyone's a winner because the money raised will benefit the Lee County Sheriff's Office Communications Training Team, allowing members to further their education and training in this important field.
In addition to serving up the best chili this side of El Paso, there will be hotdogs, child fingerprinting and a 911 station with free coloring books and stickers on site.
The public will have an opportunity to get a first hand look at the Lee County Sheriff's Office Mobile Communications Command Center along with sheriff's office displays and demonstrations with K-9, the Bomb Squad, Marine Vessel and Mounted Patrol.
