FORT MYERS, Fla.- Lee County Domestic Animal Services will honor our country’s military veterans and thank them for their service by offering these brave men and women some unconditional love and companionship. Anyone who has served in the US Military is eligible to adopt a pet for free throughout the month.
The idea of matching veterans with homeless animals is being seen as a way to help our military veterans and find homes for pets that might not otherwise have a chance. Several organizations across the country are dedicated to helping veterans transition back into normal civilian life after suffering physical and emotional injuries such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Lee County is taking this step to join the effort.
LCDAS is offering this opportunity to adopt a pet for free to all veterans during November whether they are a recent military veteran or whether they served in the past. During the remainder of the year veterans can always receive a $25 discount off the regular adoption fee.
