SANAA, Yemen (AP) - A Yemeni military official says a third U.S. drone strike has targeted suspected al-Qaida militants in the Arab nation, raising the day's death toll to 12.
The official says Thursday's evening attack killed three suspected militants traveling in a car in the al-Qutn area of Hadramawt province. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
Two earlier attacks killed nine other suspected militants, according to officials.
Yemen is on high alert after authorities revealed an al-Qaida plot to target foreign embassies and international shipping lanes in the Red Sea.
The U.S. and Britain have evacuated embassy staff over a threatened attack.
