WEST ALTON, Mo.- Flooding from the rising Mississippi and Missouri Rivers have swamped a Missouri town.

The National Weather Service says levees have been breached in the West Alton area. Families there have been told to evacuate. Roads have been shut down and drivers have been warned to avoid high and swift-moving water.

Days of heavy rain caused the rivers to swell. The Mississippi River in Alton is expected to crest on Tuesday.
