FPL is deploying more than 865employees and contractor restoration workers and nearly 250trucks to Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., to assist with restoration efforts.

Crews began leaving from throughout Florida early this morning to head to the Northeast. FPL is currently coordinating efforts to send additional crews to help with the utilities' restoration efforts. FPL is sending crews to assist PEPCO, BG&E, PPL, AEP, First Energy, PECO and Dominion in the Northeast.

The FPL workers are from throughout FPL's 35-county service territory. They will stop in South Carolina tonight and then be dispatched Tuesday morning to the Northeast to begin providing restoration assistance as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
