PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A lawyer for one of three American students being held in Egypt confirms that a court has ordered the trio released.

Attorney Ted Simon represents 19-year-old Gregory Porter, a student at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Simon says he is still waiting to find out if the students actually have been set free.

Porter and the two others are studying abroad at The American University in Cairo. They had been accused of throwing firebombs at security forces fighting with protesters.

Speaking by phone from Philadelphia on Thursday, Simon told The Associated Press that Egyptian prosecutors were seeking further detention for more investigation. But Simon says his colleagues in Cairo argued for the students' release, and the court agreed.

Simon says he and Porter's family are very grateful for the decision.
