MIAMI - A new tropical storm has formed off the Central American coast.
The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Rina is located about 115 miles northeast of the Honduras/Nicaragua border. A tropical storm watch is now in effect for the Honduran coastline.
Information from satellites and an air force reserve reconnaissance aircraft indicate maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph, with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
