KIT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say six people are dead after a van carrying children collided with a truck in eastern Colorado.
Colorado State Patrol spokeswoman Heather Cobler confirmed the death toll in the crash Thursday. It wasn't immediately known if any of the dead were children.
Kiowa County sheriff's spokesman Chris Sorensen says the van collided with the rear of the truck in an area south of Kit Carson, which is about 130 miles southeast of Denver.
A school district in Eads, about 15 miles south of Kit Carson, says on its website that the crash involved a family close to many people in the district.
Two children have been taken to a Denver-area hospital. Their injuries or conditions weren't released.
