MOSCOW (AP) -A spokeswoman for Russia's president says North Korea is ready to impose a moratorium on tests of weapons of mass destruction.

The ITAR-Tass news agency says the statement came after talks today between North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (dih-MEE'-tree med-VYEH'-dyev).

The spokeswoman says North Korea is ready to resume international talks on its nuclear program without preconditions and "in the course of the talks North Korea will be ready to resolve the question of imposing a moratorium on tests and production of nuclear missile weapons."
