NEW YORK (AP) - The suspect in the kidnapping, killing and dismemberment of an 8-year-old New York City boy who got lost walking home from day camp has pleaded not guilty.
An attorney spoke for Levi Aron at his Brooklyn arraignment on Thursday. He's charged with murdering Leiby Kletzky (LYE'-bee KLEHT'-skee) after the child asked for directions, then got into his car.
Parts of Leiby's body were stuffed in a suitcase, found in a trash bin. Authorities say the boy's severed feet were found in Aron's refrigerator; carving knives and a bloody board were found in the freezer.
Aron has been on a suicide watch and undergoing a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he's fit for trial. He told his attorney he heard voices.
