WASHINGTON- The Senate has passed the debt deal, avoiding default.

The bill was approved in a 76-24 vote. The bill needed 60 votes to pass.

The debt ceiling has been raised by at least $2.1 trillion.

President Obama has commented on this saying, "We have workers who need jobs and an infrastructure that needs building." He added that "it took the risk of economic catastrophe" essentially to get lawakers to work together.

Representative and Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi commented saying, "We haven't seen any legislation that has created jobs."
