SALEM, N.Y. - Reports say a building exploded in rural upstate New York, injuring at least five people.

The explosion in Salem, about 40 miles northeast of the state capital of Albany, occurred around noon Wednesday.

Diane Keys, an employee at a restaurant about a half-mile from the explosion site, tells the Glens Falls Post-Star that the blast shook the restaurant. Police tell the newspaper at least five people are injured.

The Saratogian newspaper reports that three emergency helicopters are en route.

A dispatcher for the Washington County Sheriff's office couldn't immediately provide details.
