ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) - A man who raises chickens in Roswell says someone broke into his hen houses and also spread poison all over his yard, killing 50 of his birds.

Andrew Wordes, known around the Atlanta suburb as the "chicken man," tells WGCL-TV that he believes his birds are being targeted.

Wordes was clearing dead chickens out of their cages Wednesday evening.

He said he lost 50 young chickens due to the crimes. He has been a proponent of backyard chicken coups in north Fulton County for years, and said he now believes someone is trying to send him a message to leave Roswell.

Authorities say several bird carcasses will be sent to a laboratory for testing to determine exactly what caused them to die.
