SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - A young Massachusetts woman has died after falling from a bus in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Virgin Islands Police spokeswoman Melody Rames says the 21-year-old woman was riding one of the open-air "safari buses" on St. John with her younger sister when the incident occurred. The younger woman told police she was texting on her phone and didn't realize her sister had fallen until after it happened. The driver had been going about 20 mph (30 kph) at the time along the steep and twisting roads of St. John.
The victim was airlifted to Miami for medical treatment. Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office spokesman Larry Cameron says she died Tuesday. She was identified as Sarah Dargon of Norwell, Massachusetts.
