INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police say the badly decomposed body of a woman has been found in a local creek and they've been in contact with investigators looking for a missing Indiana college student.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says authorities couldn't immediately determine the identity, age or race of the woman. Her body was found floating between some debris Sunday in Fall Creek.

But they've been in contact with police in Bloomington, a city about 50 miles south where officers are searching for Indiana University student Lauren Spierer. Authorities say the 20-year-old was drinking at a local bar before she disappeared early June 3.

An autopsy of the body found in the creek is scheduled for Tuesday. Police hope the forensic examination provides more information about the woman's identity.
