VILONIA, Ark. (AP) - Officials say the four people killed in a tornado in central Arkansas died in the same subdivision where they were seeking shelter in less-than-sturdy structures.
A Faulkner County spokesman says two of the victims were in separate manufactured homes. The other two were riding out the storm in the disconnected trailer of a big-rig truck.
The bodies of the two who took cover in the trailer were found in a pond.
Authorities say flooding has killed a fourth person in northwest Arkansas, bringing the state's storm death toll to eight just hours before more harsh weather is expected to hammer the region.
In Mississippi, a 3-year-old girl is dead after a storm blew an oak tree onto her family's home.
