MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - Roofs are collapsing across the Northeast as additional snow and ice become too heavy for structures to bear. No one has been seriously injured.
A commercial building collapsed Wednesday in Milford, Conn., and a natural gas leak was reported. Nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution and one minor injury was reported.
Authorities in Middletown, Conn., say two workers escaped just before the third floor of a building gave way and littered the street with bricks.
Officials in Enfield responded to a second major roof collapse in two days when the top of an auto repair and towing business collapsed. A section of a warehouse roof collapsed the day before. In Trumbull, the roof of a tennis club partially collapsed Tuesday night.
Authorities on New York's Long Island say a gas station canopy and the roof of a house under construction caved in.
