DANIA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - After hundreds of Floridians gathered to apply for one of 2,200 job openings across the country with the U.S. Border Patrol, applications are still being accepted online.
Hundreds lined up outside several Border Patrol stations in Florida looking for a job. People started waiting in line at the Dania Beach station as early as 5 a.m. Some waited for up to five hours. Similar events were held in Tampa, Jacksonville and elsewhere around the country Saturday.
Job applications are accepted online until Sept. 30.
Border Patrol spokesman Chuck Prichard says it takes about 45 applications to "find one qualified person to actually offer a job to."
Those interested in applying online can go to http://www.borderpatrol.gov or call 954-965-6300, ext. 172.
