NEW YORK, NY - New research claimed salmonella outbreaks in young children could be linked to pet food.
The outbreak caused 79 people to become sick on the East Coast between 2006-2008. The victims were mostly children 22 and younger.
Doctors believed the children probably became infected by touching affected animals or touching dirty pet food dishes, then putting their hands in their mouth.
