MGN Online BOKEELIA, Fla. (AP) – A 70-year-old Florida man is accused of mail fraud involving a scam that targets the elderly. The News-Press of Fort Myers (http://newspr.es/1wByUA8 ) reports Ronald Mendleski was arrested Wednesday and released on $100,000 bail. He was ordered to surrender his passport and firearms and his travel between southwest Florida and North Dakota. Mendleski owns International Data Products. He will appear at a preliminary hearing in North Dakota. The newspaper reports the case against Mendleski began in September 2011 in Wells County, N.D. According to an FBI affidavit, the “Jamaican Lottery Scam” involved contacting elderly people and claiming they had won a large cash award. Subsequent calls asked for taxes and fees. Records show Mendleski had eight Bank of America accounts with more than $1.7 in deposits between 2011 and 2012.
